When:Saturdays at 11:30am (see below for other pregnancy-safe class times)
Where:Shamata Pilates & Yoga Studio 17 Smith Street Walkerville (opposite St Andrews School, rear of Walkerville Uniting Church).
Facilities include plenty of free parking, toilets, kitchen and waiting area.
Who:Mums-to-be in their second or third trimester of pregnancy.
What to Expect:- Gentle & Pregnancy-Safe Pilates exercises, Tranquil Relaxation Sessions, General Pregnancy Advice, Calming Studio environment, Warm and Friendly Instructor.
- 50 Minute Classes followed by a Pregnancy-blend Herbal Tea.
- Small Classes to ensure Individual Attention.
- All Levels of Health and Fitness Welcome. No Pilates or Yoga experience necessary.
What to Bring:Exercise Ball Required (see below). Comfortable clothing recommended.

We recommend that you discuss starting Pilates with your obstetrician or midwife before commencing classes.

** Our 9.15am and 7.30pm Tuesday RELAX General Pilates Group Classes are also pregnancy-safe, with exercises suitable for pregnant clients. Non-pregnant clients (eg supportive friends) are also welcome in these classes – Exercise Balls are not required. Please inform our instructor of your pregnancy so they can take good care of you! **

FAQ: I'm Pregnant - Can I attend regular classes?

Please always check with your doctor, obstetrician or midwife before commencing Pilates classes when pregnant. As a general rule, during the first trimester you can usually continue what you have already been doing before pregnancy. So, if you have already been participating in Pilates classes, it is generally safe to continue our regular Pilates classes during your first trimester. If you have not been undertaking regular Pilates classes, it is best to rest during your first trimester.

When you reach your second trimester (14 weeks), please enter our Pregnancy Pilates classes, which are suitable for mums-to-be in their second and third trimesters on Saturdays at 11.30am and Tuesdays at 9.15am and 7.30pm. This will ensure you undertake pregnancy-safe exercises only, in classes specifically designed to support you throughout your later pregnancy. Please refrain from attending our other regular classes after your first trimester, as we are not always equipped to provide pregnancy-safe exercise modifications in all classes, and want to ensure you exercise in the safest way possible!
